Artwork Development Settings

Before we start

In order to provide the best quality in your prints please follow these guidelines.

a pile of old photos and postcards sitting on top of each other

Page setup

  • Set all pages—including crossovers–—as facing pages and not as reader spreads.
  • Set all files to final trim size.
  • Apply the correct page count.
  • Set bleeds at 1/8” (.125”). A document has bleeds when the content has been extended past the trim edge of the document.

Color

  • Rich Black should be built as (40-Cyan and 100-Black).
  • Convert all RGB images and graphics to CMYK process.

Images and Graphics

  • Save all vector graphics as an illustrator EPS.
  • RGB photoshop images should be converted to CMYK.
  • High resolution images are at least 300 dpi. 72 dpi is considered low resolution (dpi = ppi pixels per inch).
  • Please note that resolution on images placed into document cannot be adjusted. Resolution is derived from the image file itself. If the image resolution is low (below 240 dpi), the final printed product will not print as clean or crisp as a image file that has the necessary resolution and has followed these guidelines.

Submitting Your Artwork

  • Always send a PDF file to Color Copies Phoenix for printing. If the file is larger than 24mb use either Dropbox or Wetransfer to send us the artwork.
